Our story

From flea markets to an antiques business of our own

Bavarian Heritage is a small antiques and vintage business from Upper Bavaria. It all started with a passion: old things, flea markets and music boxes. In 2025 that passion became a business of its own – with the aim of giving well-made pieces with a story a second life.

We are based in Tutzing on Lake Starnberg. From here, beer steins, music boxes, porcelain, typewriters, old picture postcards and much more travel all over the world – every piece hand-picked, checked and carefully packed.

  1. The beginning

    A passion for browsing

    Flea markets, old things and above all music boxes: the joy of discovery grew into the idea of giving forgotten pieces a new home.

  2. 2025

    Founding and first year

    Bavarian Heritage opens on Etsy. In the first full year, 148 pieces go to 18 countries – almost one order in four to the USA. Read the review

  3. Late 2025

    Our own website

    bavarianheritage.com goes live – today with more than 800 pieces, a blog and a flea market map in five languages.

  4. 2026

    Growing with care

    The first large collection sale with around 150 pieces of ceramics and porcelain, eBay as a second marketplace and a new brand look.

The owner

Lorenz Rauch

Founder, owner and curator

Behind Bavarian Heritage is Lorenz Rauch. He chooses every piece himself – at flea markets, through classified ads, from collections and estates – and prepares it: cleaning, checking, repairing where needed, photographing and describing it honestly.

His aim is to build a bridge between then and now: things that are well made and have a story should go on being used and loved instead of disappearing into a basement.

Shop, showroom or pop-up store

in Starnberg, Weilheim or Tutzing

We are looking for a place, permanent or temporary, where people can look at our pieces, hold them in their hands and take them home straight away. You get a quiet, reliable tenant – and a shop window full of history.

To help old treasures find a new home, we are looking for temporary support – in the Tutzing/Starnberg area and remotely. You like old things, work carefully and enjoy getting stuck in? Then you’ll fit right in.

  • Shipping: packing goods safely, creating labels, sending parcels all over the world
  • Buying & selling: searching flea markets and classified ads, photographing pieces and listing them online
  • Marketing & bookkeeping: posts for Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest, recording receipts, keeping an eye on the numbers
